THIS IS 100% MY FAULT i am so irresponsible at times, i admit. so i decided to carry my rabbit to the living room, but it was fighting me a bit - this is where i should have put her down. but instead i decided to carry on. i walked a couple more and it leaped out of my arms (a 5 foot drop on a towel) bad right? it gets worse. it leaped INTO my other rabbit's cage (which was why she landed on a towel sort of) and he started chasing her and was being territorial, and she was like running around so i was like PANICKING at this point and i got in his cage but he was trying to bite her - maybe mount her? everything was so fast, but the point is he was right on her tail, she was running so i was unable to catch her, instead she escaped through the bars of his cage. worst part: she got stuck in the back and was there for like 20 seconds not moving cause she was stuck and she was struggling so i sort of squeezed her legs out and she made it and raced back into her cage. i brought her out (OKAY STUPID I KNOW) but onto my bed and she was super scared at this point but i calmed her down. 

now she is hopping around and acting normal? and i tried to feel her rib cage for any protruding bones but i found none. so do you think shes okay? just traumatized? she is walking/ hopping as usual. 

PS, I WILL NOT carry her anymore until i find a stable way to carry her and only when i Absolutely HAVE to - nail clipping etc. 

but does a rabbit make it obvious that it has a broken bone? she is 8 weeks old so she is small but the bars are pretty tiny too! (average size bars) what are the symptoms? she is hopping around as normal, but i want to keep an eye on her. also if i go to the vet and mention this incident will be able to see if my rabbit has a broken bone or not? or does it require an x ray? (i am scheduling an appointment tomorrow)

if this matters at all: shes in her cage and grooming herself/ eating hay or was eating hay. its a mixture of grooming and eating hay. but i know how well rabbits can hide pain! ugh i really hope the vet can book me in real soon. i mean would she be hopping/ walking around if her rib was broken? would i be able to see or feel it ? i dont know much about rabbit anatomy (when it comes the actual body and bones) but ugh

she should be fine, you would definitely be able to tell if a leg or such were broken. Eating and potty habits are some of the first to go when in pain.

Definitely work on a better way to hold her, she should not be able to jump out of your arms if held properly.

She should be ok if she is hopping around and eating. When rabbits are in a lot of pain food is the last thing they care about. Look up some videos on youtube and maybe get your vet to show you proper handling techniques. If you support their spines/back legs and put a small amount of pressure on the shoulders they can't jump out of your arms. The biggest danger with holding a rabbit improperly that is struggling is they can easily snap their spine rather than just jump away. She seems to have escaped any serious injury this time though.

this morning she was hopping in and out of her litter box (which is kind of tall for her but its not HUGE) and i changed her food/ water and added hay and she started to eat her pellets/ hay.

and i kind of lifted her (just put my hand under neath her front paws and lifted her but her hind legs were still on the ground) to see if she felt any pain and i dont think so? she just got super scared - which is normal. and i felt around on her back for broken bones and i felt none but then again she IS tiny and i dont know if i would be able to feel it? but would a broken rib or small bone hurt her? i dont want to carry on as normal if she does have a broken bone? would she be able to hide it that well? or would she be in so much that it would be obvious?

Honestly it can be difficult to tell sometimes. Rabbits are easy at hiding pain. A rabbit who is still eating and drinking CAN be in pain or discomfort.

I once got a baby rabbit that I rescued from a shelter and he had a fractured tibia and I could not tell - I adopted him out and the adopter noticed it because he was dragging his back leg a bit so I took him back and the vet did an x-ray and discovered it. There won't be anyway for you to feel a fracture and possibly not a broken bone.

The only thing that could be done for him was cage rest for about 6 weeks.

So I guess the point I am making is that unless it is very obvious, it is not always easy to tell especially with these fragile rabbit bones (with rabbits at any age).

if i take her to the vet and mention it to the vet, will she be able to tell? would an x ray show a fracture? the bunny still does mini zoomies/ "binkies" she's really small so its not like a full binky, but she will like RUN out of her litter box and back in and kind of shake her head so her ears kind of flop around. i could take a video of her later today? how much would an x ray cost? cause not only am i worried about this, im also worried about her having mites and who knows what else

I don't know that a video is going to show any fractures - I have no idea how much your vet would charge for an x-ray (best to call and ask).

I guess if you have concerns about mites and other issues, then you should take her to the vet anyway for a checkup. That would be the easiest thing to do since we cannot tell if she has mites either and it would ease your mind as you would have a vet actually doing a physical check up.

well you could see if she is walking weird or anything (which *i* dont think she is, but i dont know) and im calling the vet today for a checkup. and i will mention the incident as well

It sounds like she is fine, baby animals can be pretty resilient, even bunny babies. A vet checkup is probably a good way to go just to be sure. If she were in severe pain it would be somewhat noticeable, it's something that even rabbits have trouble hiding sometimes.

I would also suggest that while you're at the vets, have them show you how to properly handle a bunny to keep them from struggling. There are several ways to handle a rabbit, so find out which works best for your bun. If there were ever an emergency you will need to have your bun comfortable with being handled.

i took her to the vet on wednesday and she seems to be fine - in terms of having a broken bone or anything.
