So I feel like my bun may be a little lonely… but i am unable to get another one. She has a very nice condo with two stories and gets at least 3 hours of free roam per day.

She is about a year old now and still likes to hide out in places if possible lol. I dont know if her big cage makes is worse because there is no way i can catch her in their. Any ideas for how she can become more happy? I would like to almost make a pen for her instead of a condo because i like that set up better.

Have you tried the stuffed animal trick?! Hahaha. I know it sounds dumb but for the longest time my girl bun was skittish as heck and didn’t want anyone near her and rarely would even hang out with our boy buns… but after her spay we got her a stuffed animal and she cuddled and groomed that thing like it was her best friend in the whole world… Until we bonded her with the boys and the boys chewed her friend to pieces, LOL. But it may possibly help your girl!

I will have to try that! Thanks!

Im also going to try blocking underneath my queen bed off because she goes under there, and i cant get her out. That way she will have to stay in the open and hopefully enjoy interacting!

That’s a good idea! We actually had to bring her out of her cage and lock the door so she couldn’t go back in because sometimes she would just refuse to come out for days on end… it was so depressing to watch her. She would binky a few times in corners alone by herself and it just made me so sad. She was soo independent and just distant from everyone and everything. Has she been spayed? I know my girl bun became a lot more interactive after her spay although she is STILL very skittish of new things…and well, everything. LOL.

Yes she is spayed, I will probably try locking her out with me while i do something on the floor until she warms up some.

Remember too that bunnies are crepuscular – they sleep during the day and night and are active around dawn and dusk. A sleepy bunny during the day can be mistaken for a depressed bunny.

I do agree with your assessment that she might hide out in a C&C cage more so than a pen. You can always take it apart a bit and convert to a pen without having to buy anything new and see how it works. Also, make sure you provide interesting things for her to do outside of her cage, like boxes and things to play with.

Agree with Elrohwen, also! My buns are a TON more likely to come out when we leave cool boxes and stuff for them to explore around inside.

How much time do you spend with your bun during the day?

Thanks for you tips im going to try and bring boxes home for her to play in…

She gets at least 4 hours of play per day. On the weekends usually all day.

That’s a pretty good amount of play time. It sounds like she has it pretty good.
