My 6 year old dwarf is having a total freakout. She is thumping like crazy, running around and totally spazzing. I tried to put her in her cage and cover it in hopes that it would calm her, but she threw an absolute fit, banging off the walls, tipping everything over Tasmanian Devil style. No changes in her environment recently (though we did move a month ago), but she seemed to be fine with it up until now.
A little more background: Over the past month or two, she has stopped using her litter box which means all kinds of experiments including diet changes, environment, litter changes, etc. to no avail. It also means regular bunny baths to clean her sensitive areas and reduce the sore hocks that have developed due to her constantly running through her own mess. She is 100% free range and has run of the house except when we have been confining her to get to the root of the litter box issue. Today, after her bath, I had to trim a few of her nasty dreadlocks that were forming around her hind quarters but she was stomping and fussing before that, though it seems to have gotten worse since the trim. Could this have caused the issue? I don't know what to do as she is not lethargic, has an appetite, and is eating. She just ate a raisin form my hand less than an hour ago. |

That's next - This just started happening today and my wife is away with the car. I'm starting to think she may have gone blind as she is running in to things / not acknowledging my movements close to her face. |

I agree with Sarita a vet checkup is something that should be done right away. You never can know exactly what is wrong with the bun without a vet's help. I hope your bun gets better! =] |

Update: she started getting worse. erratic behavior and began running in to walls and just completely acting crazy.vnonresponsive to my presence. i called a cab and rushed her to the emergency vet. the vet thinks it could be a stroke or brain tumor. not good. im so worried and sad. they gave her some oxygen and she calmed down. i was able to visit with her and she started responding to my voice so that is a good sign i guess. i hope sh is ok. tbey are keepijg her for tests and observation. im so worried. thanks for your kind words and support. |

Unfortunately, Paris passed away this morning. The vet thinks it was probably a brain tumor that began to place too much pressure on her lil head. I am very sad and will miss her dearly. Don't know what else to say at this point, except thank you all for your warmth and concern. |

I'm so sorry, bunboy. Paris went naturally, and there was nothing else you could do. You gave her a loving home. We can't know when serious illnesses happen to our buns, we can only make them comfortable when we find out about it. You did that for her, and she is no longer suffering. She is over the Rainbow Bridge now, sending you love for all your care. {{{{{{{{{{Binky free, little Paris}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} |
