Hey there, I wanted to introduce myself & my lil’ Fawn Flemish Giant Hunny.  I’m a new bunny momma, we have had her for almost 2 months now & I love her as if she was one of my children… Shoot she IS one of my kids… she’s my furry baby!  She is almost 4 months old & I’m enjoying every moment getting to know her, her personality & her quirks.  Since about 2 weeks before she joined our family I’ve been trying to absorb as much bunny / flemish giant info as possible and I’m hoping that by joining this forum I will have other bunny moms & dads to learn from. I want to do everything in my power to make sure this lil’ lady lives a long & happy life.  She will be getting spay at the end of the month & we’ve been tossing around the idea of looking for a buck to bond her with (after she’s all heeled, of course).  I’m curious if it’s too soon to try to bond her or if the younger the better???  I’ll take anyones 2 cents on the subject.  Well again, I’m excited to have found somewhere to obtain ideas & answers to my question from real people instead of just what I read on the internet.

Yay welcome! Sadly I cannot offer you anything about bonding as I only have the one bunny, but there are tons of people here who have bonded bunnies!
She looks adorable! More pics if you can, we can’t get enough of cute bunnies

I tried to add pic to my original post but it doesn’t look like I did it right… Maybe you could give me the low down on how to post pics

Hi welcome to BB! You are definitely on the right track by getting her spayed, she will have such a happier and healthier life because of it.

As for the bonding, definitely wait at least a month after her spay minimum before starting bonding. After she is all healed she is not too young to be bonded to another rabbit. The best thing you can do to have the greatest chance of a successful bond is to let her pick out the new bunny. Many shelters/humane societies and even breeders will let your rabbit go on “bunny dates” and they can help pick the new rabbit that is the most compatible. The new rabbit needs to be spayed or neutered before beginning the bonding process, otherwise that bunny will be interested in mating and it wouldn’t be a true bond, there’s also a much higher risk of aggression. You also have to be prepared to keep the rabbits separate long term if they are not able to be bonded. I hope this helps give you a little more info on bonding, if you have any questions this is definitely the place to ask them! I chose to adopt a second rabbit and the bonding process went so well. I’m really glad I did, they both are happier having a rabbit companion.

Flemish Giants are so cool! You’ll have to post pictures

Thanks for the advice about letting her find her own bunny boyfriend. I was actually planning on looking for a young buck that was already neutered cause it’s def not cheap to get them fixed. Is bonding a difficult process? How long does it normally take… Hunny’s such a momma’s girl with a “Queen Bee” attitude I worry that she may not take to well to another competing for my attention.

And if someone could talk me thru posting pics I’d much appreciate it! I upload them and attach to post but nothing appears (???) –

Is the file too big perhaps? I know it’s a specific size requirement. http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ I use this a lot to resize pics for forums.

Bonding can be very easy, mine took only a couple days. Normally they take a couple weeks, although it’s not as common sometimes it can take months or in rare cases never at all. It depends (haha sorry I know that’s not very helpful)
