        Hi

I’m new here, signed up to ask some questions about our new bunny friend but found all the answers just reading through some of the great info here! I live in Australia, just south of Sydney, with my husband and our 2 kids, 2 guinea pigs, numerous fish, 3 yabbies (fresh water crayfish) and our new bunny pal.

Our rabbit has been with us only about a week, his name is Beefa Bunny and he’s an adorable little mini lop eared in what my 6 yr old calls a “caramel colour” but I think is technically fawn? whatever it’s called he’s very pretty. He’s a sweet little guy, 4 months old and very friendly. He’s pretty much litter trained but is keen to claim the whole laundry (where his cage is) and kitchen (where he knows the food is!) so we’re still finding some presents left about, not bad for a week though so we’re quite pleased with him, hoping neutering will fix up the last few behaviours and improve the smell of the little guy cause right now he’s a little on the whiffy side!

We’re off to meet the vet tomorrow and get him vaccinated and we’ll talk about neutering him and when we should do it while we’re there.

        Lauren

edited to add a photo,  terrible iphone photo, but a photo just the same

Welcome!!! Congratulations on the new bunny He looks adorable, gotta love those long floppy ears! Having him neutered will help a lot with the litter box habits and the smell, you can also try cleaning his glands

(I know it’s gross, but if it’s the cause of the smell it will get rid of it).

Thanks bunnyfriend, that does sound gross lol but how do you do that? Think I might prefer to keep fresh flowers in the house so we all have a constant case of hay fever until we can get him fixed he was vaccinated this morning, the vet seemed nice and quite knowledgable, we’ll be sent a reminder when he’s 6 months old to book him back in for the snip.

Welcome from one Aussie to another! Beefa is a little cutie and hope that getting the snip in a few months will help out and he gets along with the other pets (and kids) in the house

He’s so adorable and hello from another Aussie I dont know if its the technical term but he looks like my old bun who the vet said was a ‘tortoiseshell’. I also have a naughty un-neutered boy bunny and i find using an essential oil burner is a nice hayfever free way to keep the house smelling nice would love to see more photos if you get the chance!
