  when i picked up pinky from being spayed my vet explained that rabbits have 2 cervix and so i looked up rabbit anatomy out of interest. i found this page on http://www.medirabbit.com that has a labelled diagram which says ‘uterus horne’ i think… but it’s pointing at the tubes. does anyone know… are thess the actual uteruses (and is that word the plural of uterus… lol)? just curious really.
  
  *caution* there’s also a pic of an actual reproductive system from a hysterectomy (incase anyone’s squeamish)

  wow. isn’t that peculiar? never knew that. so could they release multiple eggs that get fertilized in each of the uteruses (uteri? don’t know the plural.)

  Wow that’s weird!! Rabbits are crrrraaazzyyy! Two uterine horns=two uterus(s) I think you are right that there are two! Thanks for sharing the link!

  What they remove of dogs, cats and bunnies is a “Y” shaped when they spay. The uterus does have 2 horns- thats how numerous puppies, kittens, etc fit. The ovaries and ovarian tissue is on each side at the top of the “Y” and the bottom of the Y represents more of the uterus itself.
  
  I am not sure about the whole 2 cervix thing- weird. I will have to look into it more- not like that pops up in everyday conversation.

  It took some poking around – but there’s not a lot of details about the rabbit uterus online when it’s not related to reproduction or cancer.
  one of the things the medi-rabbit article mentions is that the uterus is duplex with separate cervical and uterine openings. I am thinking that means there is one uterus, but it’s two sided?

  I believe that there are not the 2 cervixes…but a single cervix attached to the dual uterine hornes. B/c, Katnip please help me w/ the vocab, rabbits, like cats, are ovulation induced….it may seem like they maintain 2 separate female reproductive systems. Basically, the ovulate in response to the stimulation, that is why some animals can actually have 2 separate daddies w/ in 1 litter. Now I think I’ve completely screwed up that explanation. What’s especially nasty is a pyometra uterus. It looks like a pus filled, over stuffed sausage. Really gross! Yet another reason to spay your pets.

  Man, I’m glad I had just one uterus, it gave me enough trouble in my lifetime. >.< Although I have heard of rare cases where women had dual horned uteri.
  Now I get to watch my daughter live the hell that is the monthly cycle. *urgh!* When I get to Heaven I’m going to walk straight up and kick Eve square in the pants! *nods*
  
  So glad my two buns are both fixed. Spare them the agony of disease and birthing. They are cute enough just the two of them *snuggles Mimzy & Pippi*
