I am finally getting my buns nutered next week. (Two boys from the same litter, 4 and a half months old). Lately their hormones have been taking over, and they have been fighting (dominance etc)/making up back and forth for a few days, maybe even the last couple of weeks, increasingly. I have been separating them at night, and during the day when they have free roam in the apt, I have been separating them in their cage for a while, before letting them out again. It seems to be working, and they  only get at it about three times a day, and its not very voilent.

For the most time they get along great though, I'm hoping it will get better when they are nutered

For my question, I was wondering if - and for how long - I should separate them after they have been nutered?

If they are getting along, then I don't see any reason to separate them. If there are problems (hormones will surge after the neuter), then you can separate them temporarily.

Ah yes, that is what I was thinking. I didn't mean separate as in long term, just for how long i should maybe keep them separated after the surgery
Thanks for the reply

I guess the length of time would depend on how they are acting toward each other. If you need to separate them at all, then I would think the longest would be until their hormones have settled (about a month). Depending on how they are after that, you might have to do some rebonding. I would just play it by ear, honestly.

I've NEVER separated any of my bonded pairs, even w/ surgery.  Their bonded mates stay w/ them at the hospital b/f & a/f surgery (teeth, neuter).  Even when they come home, if there isn't any behavioral problems that have developed I would keep them together, unless it is an unspayed female w/ a neutered male.  They may still be able to get her pregnant for like 6-8 wks (I think).  Else all my bonds stay together no matter what.  Slight changes (hospital smells or separations) can affect the bond.
