I adopted two rabbits on last nov. both are male, not fixed. one is about 4 months old and the other was 3 months old. the little one died 2 days ago. i was sure that the older bun will be upset. since he use to really like his lil bun bro, he use to groom his lil bro a lot. but after his past away, i dnt see him upset nor he grief for a bit. Is it normal? or is it the silence before a a terrible storm?

what should i do? i do give him  lots of time as am unemployed now. he is a outdoor free roaming bunny. now a days i see him more active than bfore. he eats well, his poo and pee are normal too.

Oh no! What happened to the little one?

It honestly sounds like he is doing fine. Active, pooping, and peeing are all great signs. I don’t have experience in grieving though! Maybe they hadn’t spent enough of their life together for him to go through a grieving process. Have you thought about getting another bunny in the future?

I am so very sorry for your loss!

Different rabbits grieve in different ways. Did he spend anytime with his bunbro’s body? When my rabbit passed away, I allowed the surviving bun to spend two hours with the body. I read that this usually helps them understand that their partner really is gone, and they don’t grieve for as long. Also some rabbits become depressed, others become destructive, and some don’t show any changes. For now just monitor his eating/pooping. As long as he’s eating normally, all you can do is give him more attention and companionship.

Oh gosh that must be so sad for them to experience.

Thanks for the input Wascally Wabbits!
