Today has been a tough day,

After a week and a half of sadness, hopes, let downs, fears and a rollercoaster of emotions, it breaks my heart to say that my dearest pet Alfie has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Unsure of her recovery, after the events of last night I just knew in my heart that we had reached the end. Alfie was put to sleep forever at 11:20 this morning. I will miss her dearly and am extremely upset.

Tips on moving on from the loss of a bunny friend?

          Hugs to you.

I say just cry and grieve – crying is good for you. What a sweet photo.

I’m sorry for your loss and distress. Sending HEALING VIBES with hopes that your emotions will heal soon and what will remain with you are happy memories of when Alfie was binkying with you and other joyous remembrances of your bunny.

I am so sorry, it must have been so difficult to make that decision but you did what was best for her  Alfie looks like she was very sweet. All I can really say is that at first it’s going to hurt really bad but after a while it starts to get better, never goes away though. Alfie is happy and binkying free

What a cute bunny Alfie was. I know it has been a torturous and heartbreaking week for you. Nothing more painful then not being able to help our bunnies when they are sick. Alfie is at peace now. And I ditto what the others have said. This just hurts and you will have to go through a mourning process. I know it can be even rougher IF you don’t have people around you that will understand how deeply this can hurt, so just reach out to people who do understand and will help support you.

In time, the sharpness of the loss diminishes, and the good things you can take in and remember without it being paired with intense pain. I always feel the loss and I still get upset about Jack, but the pain isn’t stuck in my heart every day.

It will get better – but in the meantime, give yourself permission to just grieve, and make sure to get sleep and keep yourself hydrated. The pain of loss will affect you physically, so be kind to yourself.

I’m so sorry about your beautiful Alfie.
For me it was about 2 weeks of a physical pain in my gut that was the grief, that subsided into a gentler sadness. Do what you feel up to daily, and don’t rush to move things unless it makes you feel better. You have a lot of little quirky habits, like looking down at a certain time of day, that kind of thing, that will take a while to change so you’ll have sudden reminders that make you feel badly but will pass quickly too.

Try to write us here if you’re feeling misunderstood by cat, dog, or non-pet owners. It’s a loss of a family member you lived with, so it’s real grief.

I’m so very for the loss of your beautiful bunny. There’s no easy way to get over the loss of a dear bunny friend. Time will heal your wounds and eventually you will be left with all the sweet memories of your dear Alfie.
