I just want to offer my condolences to Beka, whose beloved dog of many years, Benny, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Peaceful rest to Benny, and big hugs to Beka.

It’s hard to say goodbye, especially at Christmas.  My condolences to you and the family Beka.

Thank you for starting this Pam. I wanted to post last night, but I really couldn’t see straight. Not that it’s better today considering I woke up and burst into tears immediately. But we’ll see, I know it gets better, I just wish we didn’t have to go thru this.

He was the perfect dog. I can’t imagine going to my parent’s house and seeing the two (rambunctious) remaining dogs and Ben not being there as he was always the “calm in the storm”. He was 13 years old and had been with us since he was about 4-5 months. One thing I’ve been thinking about that I’m so thankful for is that after he was adopted as a puppy, he only knew one home and was adored by everyone who met him. No pet can ask for more than to have one spot that’s theirs forever.

I appreciate your kind words everyone.

I am so sorry, Beka! I wish dogs were longer-lived, it’s the only downside to the dog, that they leave us too soon. I know he will always be your most special one and he will stay in your heart for keeps.

My condolences, Beka. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sounds like you have your dog’s lifetime of happy memories to treasure! I hope they will take the place of the hurt soon.

My mom is having a very hard time. I only lived in the house with him for about the first 4-5 years of having him (before I got married and moved out), so my mom has been his primary caretaker since that point (altho I still saw him at least 1-2 times a week). But since she is the one who was feeding and grooming and giving meds and all of that, she’s extremely upset. I told her, I at least can go home to a house where he didn’t live, and his fur isn’t everywhere. She gets home from work and “sees” him in every corner.

Oh that is sad. I think it would be hard to see a parent grieving also. I hope she finds some peace. (((healing vibes)))

Oh it’s so heartbreaking It does get easier but you never forget. I lost my first Boxer 2 years ago to cancer and I still have her collar in my top dresser drawer with all her hair still in it. For the first few mths I could still smell her in it, periodically I would grab her collar, smell it and just cry…man I miss her.

My heart is broken for you and your family, it’s never easy losing a family member *HUGS* to you and your Mom.
