Awww I’m sorry youlost your bunny. I know how hard it is. If you want, you can go post a tribute/memorial in the “Support Center”.

As far as why your bunny died, if your vet did an autopsy and found nothing, there’s nothing we can do on here through the internet to give you an answer. Sometimes these things just happen. How old was your bunny?

Rich, I’m so sorry to hear about your bunny, what was your baby’s name? I recently lost 2 of mine, one from an obvious case of head-tilt and her mate simply died in his sleep one day. He had recently been in for a check up too and was fine. He did have some sort of slight heart irregularity so he might have had a heart attack or he might just slipped away because it was time, he was 6.

I know house bunnies can live much longer, but sometimes they don’t no matter how good of care we give them.

I am sorry you lost Mina Rich. I know losing our beloved pets is extremely difficult. She is in a great place over the rainbow bridge now though. Binky Free Mina!

Rich, I’m so sorry! I’ve had a few autopsies done on my beloved rabbits who passed and most of the time the autopsy was not definitive. I’ve struggled to find the answers as you have because I wanted closure as well and it helped me with my grieving. In the end, I just had to accept that it was there time even though I didn’t have the answer I was seeking. You obviously took very good care of your bunny and gave her a very good life.

Sometimes our rabbits don’t really let us know when they aren’t feeling well and it’s not always a case of them not eating or drinking, rabbits can be very good at hiding illness.

I will light a candle for Mina to help her cross the bridge.

Rich, I’m so sorry about mina. Sometimes for animals it’s just time to leave, no matter how well you take care of them and how much you love them. It sounds like you cared for her and gave her a happy and fulfilled life, and that’s what really matters. You did everything you could to protect and nurture mina, and now she’s in a better place. I believe that our animals are too full of life and love and feeling not to have souls, and I believe we’ll see them again. You’ll see her again, and in the meantime please comfort yourself that you gave her everything she needed for health and happiness.

Please don’t blame yourself. You obviously loved and cared for Mina very, very much. I agree that a bunny will hide a problem – you can’t possibly know until often it’s too late. Five years is long enough to be devoted to your baby, but it still seems too soon in your eyes. Don’t dwell on the cause, just know that she loved you too and you gave her a good home.

Rich – I agree, sometimes these things happen. i remember when I was baffled as to why one of my bunnies died. The necropsy offered up more questions than answers, and I remember my vet saying….this is part of having a rabbit. Meaning rabbits can be very mysterious when it comes to health. They have very sensitive digestive tracts that can react to anything – something new to diet, stress, other health issues and so sometimes the only clue that there is anything wrong is is by watching whether they are eating, drinking and pooping, and if that stops, then that can cue us into some problems, but sometimes…everything seems normal and they still leave us without warning.

I am sorry as it is very painful and we all here can definitely understand how hard it is. Once you have had some time to heal, maybe you can share with us what Mina was like so we can celebrate her life and let that be the focus.

I am so sorry to hear this Rich! My thoughts are with you and your wife. Like the others said, sometimes we just don’t know why. You gave her the best possible life and she knows how much she was (and will always be!) treasured by your family.

I’m so sorry!!! *HUGS* They go so quickly and often we have no idea why. Rabbit medicine is improving but it has a long way to go and these little guys are complex.
