        Hey Bunny Ladies

Just wanted to update on how things are going at my house since I seperated Flopsy and Carmel.

Carmel has his NIC cage in the kitchen, and has full run of the upstairs. He is soo anal compared to Flopsy as to where he goes pee and poo.  If a move his litter box into a different corner he will not use it but use the corner that the litter box is usually in.  I know this is common of rabbits, but never actually witnessed it before. He seems happy social bunny as usual.

Flopsy has been relocated downstairs into my son’s bedroom.  I found my lab’s old dog crate in the shed and set it up for her.  I even added a little shelf for her to sit on.  She doing very well, healing up nicely.  There is practically no marks on her ears from the previous bites.  She seems quite content as well, but gets a  bit too curious in the evening and has climbed the stairs to the landing.   I’ve started putting a babygate up for fear she’ll venture into Carmel’s territory.

So I’m guessing it’s been about 3 weeks now since the “WE Hate Each Other” fight.   Not sure if I will ever try bonding them again or not.  What are everyone else’s thoughts?

How can I tell if they are lacking companionship? Flopsy has been grooming my Lab.  Is that strange??

Haha – grooming your lab? Thats pretty cute! It sounds like there might be a little bonding going on there! I have heard it is more difficult to bond two bunnies after they have had a big fight, and you’ll have to monitor closely to see if one is stressing out particularly bad during the bonding sessions. How often do Flopsy and Carmel spend time with people? I have heard that bunnies do prefer to have a companion, but I myself have two perma-single buns. They just seem to prefer NOT to have any companions (deduced from the fact that they attack anybun they meet….) You can look out for lonliness/depression by making sure they both continue eating and being active as normal, but it sounds like they both are pretty happy!

CUTE-you must take pictures of the dog grooming!!

Sounds like things have settled down. My suggestion, if you do try to bond again, is to only do high stress sessions at least at first-like car rides and shopping cart rides.

Shopping cart rides??? Are you joking?!!! LOL  I work at walmart that would totally be hilarious if I showed up  with my buns to take them for a ride.  They would probably send me for a psych check!!!

LOL depends if the walmart sells food or not!! LOL

Yup, the car ride there sort of shakes things up too, so its good. Then you can line the cart with a towel and plop them in, the noise and movement-gosh there will be no fighting!

If you can’t take them in somewhere I”m sure you could always tool them around in the parking lot in the cart as well-just not too long-you want to leave before the police show up with strait jackets for you
