Sorry it’s been a while since I posted.

I picked Pancakes up today and gave her her a once over on her back (I must admit it’s been a while since I’ve done this as she absolutely hates it) and I noticed that around her bottom (I think they must be her anal glands) there is a bit of white gunk. She is absolutely fine in herself, eating and drinking normally, and there are no signs of her bottom being dirty or sore at all.

Could it be that her anal glands need cleaning or do I need to get her checked by a vet?

        Thanks very much as always.

That is strange. I would start by cleaning them. I know anal glands can get infected but I don’t think it’s very common. If you’ve never done it before, check out the Binky Bunny Bunny Info section/Monthly Maintenance.

I would clean them and if you notice it again, probably time for the vet.

My rabbits have more brown to black gunk. I’m not sure what the white would be unless newish secretions perhaps?
If its from the glands, you’d know from the smell. It reeks!

Maybe it’s some sediment from her pee?

              Hello,

I took Pancakes to the vet today as she was due a booster anyway and asked the vet. The vet said it was just normal excretions from the skin and not to worry, I asked if I should clean them and she said no, as her bottom and glands were clean, rubbing at the sensitive skin unnecessarily would just make it sore.

              Panic over!

Glad you got it figured out.
