what is the difference between all the types of hay (i am not talking about alfalfa). Is timothy really the best hay or are their others that bunnies enjoy? right now i feed my rabbit store bought timothy, i want to buy him a big box of 2nd cut timothy (he is a semi-picky hay eater). but if their is another hay just as good or almost just as good but bunnies love i would try to buy that one instead. does anyone  know?

ive tried everything and my babbity seems to only love timothy hay! I think that trial and error might be the best option for you but if money is tight just stick with the timothy hay bunnies love to nom on it!!

My buns go NUTS over Oat Hay. You should try that one! They preferred the Orchard Grass to Timothy but go NUTS over Oat Hay anyday.

To add to this, I’ve wanted to try different types of hay, but Ry keeps saying that timothy is the only one that is good for rabbits and the only one they should eat. Is this true? Or can Foo eat other types of hay, especially since I think the timothy is doing nothing to help my allergies?

Timothy kills my allergies. Plus, my buns won’t touch it. He will only eat Orchard Grass or Botanical Hay. You can compare fiber contents in each hay. Timothy is slightly better than Orchard and Botanical, but those are really good too. A good hay is one that your buns will eat a ton of.

2nd cut Timothy is a FAVORITE here. It is soft, and my Diva tends to be picky about her hay.

I feed a combination of timothy and orchard grass, so she gets variety.

My mini rex only wants to eat orchard grass(2nd cut), and some times she munches on a little timothy and some oat hay. and my other bunny eats pretty much everything. I guess, it depends on what the rabbit likes.

If it’s a mix of Timothy and Orchard, then yes, it’s fine. Most horse quality hay is fine for rabbits.
