So – as many of you know – Lola was in her grandparents care for 9 days and she now is back in her bunny mansion lounging about happily!  I left them with some strict dietary instructions BUT, unfortunately, I gave them her tupperware container FULL of food and it is all gone except about 1 cup (the container holds about 10+ total).  She definitely looks like she put on some weight but I am not sure exactly how much…  What should I do?  Right now she gets 1/4 cup of pellets with breakfast and a handful of veggies with breakfast and a handful at dinner as well as random treats (less than 2 tbsp a day)…

        Thanks in advance!

Edit: and, of course, unlimited hay!

          LOL
I’m sorry, but that is sort of funny. That sounds like something my mom would do. I don’t know if 9 days of over eating is enough for her to have gained a significant amount of weight. I would think she would be fine after being fed an appropriate amount of food for awhile. If she still seems pudgy, you might then consider restricting her intact a little bit more.

If you have a scale for meat or a pet one you could weigh her. But yeah after being back on the normal diet for a while she should be fine. Encourage her to run more by making her come to you for her treats.

Or, if she really does need to lose weight, make her run for veggie treats instead of normal treats for awhile

I would reduce her pellets a bit. How old is she again.

We all gain a bit while on vacation at the grandparent’s.
Lots more hay. 1/8 – 1/4 cup pellets once a day only.
MB’s suggestion of fresh treats is good, though I’d go with a baby carrot more than banana slices (still fattening). Fewer treats means she’ll turn to her basic food and finish it first. Lot’s of greens that are her favorite.

I don’t know why I didn’t get e-mail notifications for this or else I would have responded earlier!

She is about 3 pounds. I will definitely follow all of your suggestions with reducing the pellets and increasing fresh greens …. that is after we get over the current fiasco of consuming plastic. *shaking head*putting palm to forehead* oh buns, why must you make life so difficult? if you weren’t so fluffy and adorable…..
