Tillie’s getting spayed tomorrow. I am so nervous and a slight wreck about it. Praying it all goes well and her recovery is smooth.

Praying it all goes well to. I only ever experienced a male getting neutered. When I got my female she was already spayed!

Bumblebee was very sleepy for 1 day after her spay, and then after 3 days of meds she knew they were coming and wanted NOTHING to do with them anymore. After 24 hours she wanted to be out back with her husbun Indy and it was all footflicks for me!

Get some of her favorite veggies and treats for after her spay to get her to eat. Also drench her veggies in water too because she might not want to drink. You can also try offering a bowl and waterbottle, or maybe you already do!

My rabbits all loved alfalfa hay after their spays/neuters and lots of raisins.

              Lintini~
I am like a mom sending a kid off to camp. I have hay in small bag, greens and water in a container (and bottle). I have her carrier ready. The rescue told me to put a heating pad on high under half the carrier and to leave her in it until Thursday morning. I don’t know who I feel more sorry for, Toby because he will be alone or poor Tillie going under the knife. My poor lil bun!

When my girl got spayed she wanted a COOL spot to lay rather than a warm one, same for my male when he got neutered. She splayed out on top of the A/C vent. So make sure she has plenty of room to move off the heating pad if she wants to.

I’m sure she’ll be fine – my female only took about 3 days to get back to herself after surgery, my male actually is taking longer, the little baby lol just make sure she takes it easy and keep an eye out for any signs of infection.

I am nervous wreck! I picked up Tillie and the poor girl is completely out of it Breaks my heart. I have no idea what the deal is with the heating pad, but that is what the woman who runs the rescue said to do. She has plenty of room to move off of it. I am most worried about her eating. As it stands right now she is too drugged to eat. Oh and the vet gave me Buprenex. When I asked the tech when to administer it she said “if you see she is in pain” uumm okay?!

My females didn’t eat for a day, they were just too sleepy. In the morning she should be perked up I am sure.

The pain meds don’t give a dosage? That is very strange to just say “when she is in pain” It doesn’t say on the bottle?? My vet gives baytril, and I think I did it 3 times a day or 2 times a day.

My vet said to give the pain meds the next morning and as needed if we see she is hurting too much – if she’s too sore to move, won’t eat, etc she’s in too much pain to not give her the meds. If she’s eating, drinking etc, our vet said not to give it to her.

It’s normal for them to not eat the first day home – by the second day my girl would take some greens if I hand fed her, but she didn’t want to move (even on the pain meds) to get it herself. Third day she was nibbling on her own.

My girls didn’t want heat, they wanted quiet, something cool to lay on, and wanted to give me evil glares for awhile. Took them a day or so to be up and moving a bit, and both girls needed their pain meds for a couple days.

If after the first day, you see her not being interested in moving around or eating, give her some of her meds, she’ll perk up a bit. And favorite treats are good to get her eating again. You can check on her incision now and then by making her stand for a treat once she is willing to move around. It’s a great way to check it, you don’t have to pick her up at all

Tillie is eating!!!! I am so freakin thrilled! I had just checked on 15 min prior and she was still out of it. When I peeked in the carrier again she was eating hay! I promptly displayed an entire smorgasbord of apple, carrot, cilantro, pellets, raisins … she ate the cilantro. Every last bit. And nibbled a bit on some apple but refused the raisin and carrot (which is odd for Till). I then dipped my finger in her water and and she licked my finger. I continued this process for a good 5 minutes, so she is getting fluids too! I am one happy and relieved mom!!

Oh the instructions on the buprenex said to give every 12 hours, but I was not getting a clear answer on when her pain shot was given. I just talked to the lady who runs the rescue and she said to give her a dose around 11. She was ‘clicking’ her teeth a bit ago and I assumed that meant pain, but has not done it a in while and has eaten since. Oh and she is moving around her carrier and trying to dig up her fleece pad.

Yay, eating is awesome – she’ll heal up fast it sounds like
