Poor Jenny is having a bout of stasis, please send healing vibes.

I’ve given gas drops and a tum massage, then picked some very wet dandelion leaves. She went to wolf them down, but only managed a couple of leaves before she gave up. Same with some carrot. Now trying porridge oats then I’ll give more drops and another tum massage.

This has come out of the blue, maybe the ground outside was too cold and damp yesterday?

          Poor darling… ((((((happy tummy))))))

How is the cold damp ground relevant? I feel like I’m missing something…

            ((((((Jenny))))))

            How’s the poop and pee?
Q8, Jenny gets outside time every day

That she went to wolf down the dandelion but didn’t manage makes one think of a dental issue. If she did want the dandelion she’s probably hungry. Maybe some CC could help? How does her tummy feel?

poops are tiny, tummy is big n quite solid, she did eat a bit of carrot and she ate a barley ring last night so doubt it’s dental.

off to give second lot of gas drops n massage

Do you have any dill or carrot tops?

                Any meloxicam at home?

no, but there’s a little parsley left, I’ll try that. She’s just left a bunch of tiny uneaten cecal grapes

                  I have still got Rusty’s meloxicam…

Try to make her move around some. I know you know what to do, of course. Here’s my favorite article, the one I always link to:

update, she’s outside her cage and winding Gina up, so fingers crossed (I left her free to take floor time as movement is good) off to pick parsley now

edited to add – we posted at same time, bam. Yes movement is a big help for stasis, poor Jenny got left at the top of the stairs after her first massage, to encourage her to run down, which she did, and foot flicked me when she reached the bottom!

Really good if she is moving about.
Hopefully all the things you are doing will turn her around.

Meloxicam may be useful if those things haven’t worked. Just a single dose, provided she is not hypothermic.

She’s gone back and is lying in her hay box. A bit more carrot had gone when I got in from the garden. So far, she has ignored the parsley, but the rest of the dandelions have all but gone. Over half of last nights pellets are still uneaten, which isn’t like Jenny.

She’s sat up n had a wash and nibbled a strand of hay. Every bit helps keep the tum moving , so even one strand is good?

Every little bit in the tum is great! Keep her fluffy butt moving if you can, and don’t be shy with the simethicone. I know sugar can add to gas or ache, but with Chewie I find that fussy tummy gets better if I give him mushed banana (which is very lubricating) mixed with a bit of yogurt and simethicone.

No yummy dandelion leaves tempting her GJ? Rose petals? Willow branches?
If you don’t have any, what about the dried stuff in those Ikea bags I tried Zou with some yesterday (just to see if she appreciated them, and boy she jumped on it !!)

Still not herself, but better than earlier. Shes moving around between hay boxes every so often and intermittently nibbling on the odd strand of hay.

Shes continued nibbling on hay every so often, and some dried grass. Going to give a third dose of drops and massage now, then leave her with some more oats and dried stuff from the garden to nibble at through the night, hopefully.

Jenny is much the same today… takes a few mouthfuls then stops eating, but she is eating a bit more than yesterday, maybe 5-6 bites instead of 2-3. I’ve just given more drops and another tum massage, which was followed by loud gurgling noises I could hear across the room.

She did briefly play with the fresh hay, which is hopefully promising

you can see her tiny little poops the old training pad was thoroughly wet though, so she is peeing fine.

She’s slow to eat the fresh grass, though I think all the dandelion leaves are gone, and she ate a slice of carrot straight down

Are you lifting her backside up when massaging so gas rises to the ‘exit here’ sign….?

I must admit I was holding a friend’s baby the other day who had a onset of gas (the baby, not the friend ) and I sooooo wanted to hold him upside down to see if it worked with humans…!!! I laughed thinking of telling you lot this (but I forgot!)…

It almost looks like the right side is pulled up (like my Gooseman has) but it could just be angle of the photo. More {{{vibes}}} for little Jenny!

Hay is the best by far to get her tum back on track, so I’ll give her a break from the dreaded drops and massage if she keeps on nibbling. She’s left a couple of slightly bigger poops, so hopefully they’ll soon be normal Jenny-size and more of them.

He has refused to go back near her since. She’s still not eating normally. I bought some Cavolo Nevo as a treat, she ate that, but she was leaving uneaten cecals yesterday, so I am wary about giving too much green stuff today? I don’t want to add the stress of a vets visit as long as she is still eating something and active, but will need to if she doesn’t pick up the food intake soon.

She’s pooped a decent number of sub-size poops, and has eaten some dried grass and more hay. She is close to her normal activity levels, but I’ll keep a close eye, any change for the worse and she’ll be at the vets before she can argue!

She loved it then, so worth trying! Let’s just hope they don’t have any more rabbits needing adopting (Minstrel and Snickers came from there) as six is really enough

Even if I could afford another bun or three, I don’t think the stress of a new bun in the house would be fair on jenny right now. When she was narky last week, I thought it could be in response to picking up on my stress, getting everything in place for my eldest to leave. My youngest is more straightforward, as he doesn’t have disabilities that new support at uni.

While they were grazing, I cleaned the dining room aka bunny room out, and collected loads of clover, dandelion and grass.

Jenny was straight into the dandelions when she came in, Snickers was more like ‘hide me, Mini, and she won’t see me. If she don’t see me, she can’t bring me in!’

I know you don’t want to tempt fate but maybe it was down to stress…. have the boys gone yet? maybe she was missing them?

My eldest left a week ago, my youngest, this weekend. Getting my eldest sorted was quite stressful, the stress levels in the house are way lower this week. I think the moult was the main culprit. Shes fine today.

She is staying solo, as Pippi has made it clear he wants to be with Mini and Snickers, so Jenny is being left with free run of the house except during the other buns floor time, which she seems to approve (her having lots of floor time, not them having time that means she has to go in). She actually came to me and demanded a 5 second ear rub yesterday, and has just done so again as I type. She also let my youngest rub her ears yesterday. Maybe she’ll end up more happy around people than other buns?

Aren’t bunnies strange??
